The Elections Centre: Spotlight on the local elections 2024

The local elections in May are the last set of widespread voting before the next general election. Citizens across the country will elect their local councillors, police and crime commissioners, and in some areas their mayors. Join us for a one-day conference to explore the results of these elections and the significance of local government in the British political system.

Event details

The event will feature talks from Professor Tony Travers (LSE), Professor Paula Surridge (Bristol and UKICE), Dr Mark Pack (author and president of the Liberal Democrats), Dr Greg Stride (LGiU) and Exeter academics Dr Hannah Bunting and Professor Michael Thrasher. In addition, the day will showcase the vast data held by The Elections Centre that has recently moved to Exeter, including how you can use the data in your own projects. Held in the historic Reed Hall on campus, there will be free-flowing coffee and lunch provided.
